UPDATE!

Thank you to all who have posted comments, we are donating 30 cans of food to the local food shelter. I also had one offer to match them, so thank you so much Cari!!!! I encourage all who read here....if you can find it in your hearts and your pockets, please give what you can to the needy this holiday season. Our family has a few more things up our sleeves for families who aren't able to have a Chistmas this year due to hardships and I am enjoying teaching Ava the idea of helping others who are less fortunate than we are.

Sharing some love....

I am jumping on the bandwagon of a large group of photographers found here that are giving back! For every comment left on ANY post from now until midnight on Friday, I will donate one canned good to the local food bank. I am excited to show this to Ava and use this as a lesson in giving to those who are needy...it is a great time of year to give back and spread your love.

I am beyond thrilled with this session! They said they weren't photogenic...can you believe it? I think they were fibbing =)

I love love love how obvious their love is for each other....and how it shows in these photos. The little looks that families and couples share make me feel so lucky to be able to witness it and record it...frozen in time. Steffany and Steve, thank you so much and I so enjoyed meeting you! Little Sophia is a DOLLY, but I'm sure you already know that. :)

Lori and I have been best friends since our junior year in high school. Lemme tell ya, that was a long time ago *snicker* We have both lived on opposite sides of the country, coming back to live together in Toledo and then we both went our own ways to marry. She has recently moved back to the area and I am so thankful to have her back in my life. We can go for months on end not seeing each other but when we do it's like no time has passed. Anyway, I'll stop with my sappiness. =) Lori and Chad, we love you both...thank you for being in our lives!
As a sidenote....they wanted pictures with their dogs. Well, what an experience THAT was! 3/4 of the pictures had a dog nose or dog butt in one corner.....they didn't really want their pictures taken (the dogs) but HAD to be running in front of the camera at all times, LOL!

Last week I had the BEST opportunity to shoot my first senior session....and what FUN it was! I am in LOVE with these images, hence the reason why there are so many of them, LOL! Jordan is a smart and laid back kinda girl...she was up for anything and made my job SO super easy! Something a little different for me....and I LOVE it! Seriously...how is it possible that so many beautiful people come to me to do their photos? Tysir is 8 months along in these photos...with her second child. I know, right? Don't you want to hate her? :) She is absolutely BREATHTAKING in these photos, and her husband serves for some great eye candy, eh? I absolutely loved doing this session, Ty and Jason were up for anything, I just hope nobody was getting the binoculars out and seeing what we were doing back there, LOL! My niece....Lillian Mae. Isn't she a DOLL!? What a personality this little peanut has! Always smiling...well, as long as she is attached to her mama! :) She is a mama's girl, through and through. She has got to be one of the sweetest and funniest baby I have ever met. Did I mention Britton doesn't care for her much? Well...he doesn't. Lily is a baby that wants to be all up in your space, and my little boy doesn't like his space invaded, LOL! How is it possible to get so many beautiful kids and families together on one day? Seriously, I lucked out with each and every one of these sessions during a portrait party. The children were all GORGEOUS and so well behaved and the mom's and dad's were also beautiful and awesome to work with! Baby Ashton has got to be one of the tiniest and prettiest 2 week old I have seen. He was so sweet during our session, and very alert! Mama had to do some feeding to get him to doze, but it was only a little cat nap. I am captivated by his sweet little face and the quiet peace on Mama's face.

When I put these TDF ruffle (CORD!) pants on Ava by Georgia Grace Designs she looked down and says "OH! Apple bottom jeans....boots wit da fah...." I about fell on the floor...my girl is so funny. Maybe I should start monitoring my music choices? hehehe Don't you love the peasant top? You can get one of those from Jordan too!

I promised I would blog everyday, and I'm not about to break that promise! No eye candy tonight though, I must admit that I have not edited much today, it was a busy day today with appointments and errands and yes....more pictures! I am also preparing for a portrait party being held on Saturday, but I do hope to post some pretty pictures for you tomorrow. :) I have more of baby Ashton, 10 month old Lily and more of Ava. I also need to post birthday pictures...my little girl turned FOUR last week and we had an awesome birthday party for her, so I need to get busy posting those too. Not enough hours in the day!

Tomorrow Justin has the day off and he is looking forward to taking Ava to school. She is a little daddy's girl. I also have a lunch date with Alicia and Emily to celebrate Alicia's birthday, who shares hers with Ava.

I met Ty through the playgroup that I am a part of. I have always marveled at her gorgeousness and she has such a penchant for laughter and fun! Portrait Parties...

are a great way for you to earn free prints, rewards, and more! As a hostess you will be responsible for a few details, like organizing the group, mailing out invitations (provided for you), setting times and dates for the party and delivering the finished products to the guest.. Friends and family together on Independence Day...
On the 4th our family got together at the inlaws where some friends joined us. It was mass chaos with all of these kids, but we had such fun!

Thursday July 3 our family went to a 4th of July celebration at a local church. There was free food, face painting, games for kids, a live band, a bike show...all kinds of things! The night ended with a big BANG, the best fireworks show around, seriously! Most of these pictures were taken there...we had such fun! The picture of Britton was taken just after his first chocolate chip cookie ;) As you can see, he was really diggin' it! I was also practicing my sun flare/backlighting technique. Enjoy!

We are back from vacation and VERY tired! We were gone for 8 days and are so glad to be back home. It was a bit of a stressful time as Britton was quite sick for the first half and Justin worked by himself all week long on getting four (yes I said FOUR) layers of shingles off the roof of our cottage and put new ones off. He didn't get finished so our cottage has a huge tarp covering it until we can get up there again, hopefully soon. It makes one a bit nervous to leave it that way! We had a family reunion on my dad's side over the weekend which was a lot of fun, and we spent a lot of time with my family from both sides all week long. It was good to be "home" for the week but even better to be back *home*. I can't wait to sleep in my own bed tonight! Thank you everyone for the sweet emails and comments, I appreciate all of your thoughts.

Monday my sister in law Melissa brought over her kids so I could do Lily's 6 month pictures. She wasn't too fond of the camera, but isn't she just gorgeous? If you haven't heard of tuberous sclerosis, you can read about it here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuberous_sclerosis This disease is very near and dear to my heart, all because of a beautiful little boy named Remy.

Remy is 9 months old. Remy has tuberous sclerosis. Remy is the son of one of my very best friend's, Alicia. At 3 months of age, Remy was diagnosed with this terrible disease. He and his parents have spent many a night in the children's hospital trying to get answers and to get his seizures under control that are caused by the tumors in Remy's brain. They have traveled to Canada to get seizure medication to try and help their little boy because it was not available in the United States.

A week ago today Remy underwent brain surgery where the surgeon's removed 40% of the right hemisphere of his brain. This is where the tumors were that were causing the seizures that were causing Remy to be developmentally delayed. The surgeon's told Alicia and Matt to expect major left sided weakness and different seizures from the trauma to the brain. Remy has been seizure free since the surgery. Right after surgery he was kicking his left leg and waving his left arm. Isn't it amazing? God is so good.

Alicia is taking part in a Tuberous Sclerosis walk on Saturday. She is raising money for the event so that we can hopefully find a cure for this disease. Ava has been chosen as a model for Josiekat's Trunk, an online children's clothing company that sells TDF unique and funky clothing. This week I photographed Ava in the first arrival... a three piece patriotic set. **Disclaimer....I noticed right away when I posted these photos, they do not appear as vivid and bright on blogger as what they actually are. They look kind of washed out to me on here, which disappoints me a bit that I can't show you all the 'true colors' of this shoot!

Ava thought she wanted to go swimming on Sunday, while we were driving around the lake. She saw other people in the water, not understanding that they were not there for their pleasure, they were freezing their body parts in the frigid water to put their docks in. So, we took her to the old boat landing and I had her put her feet in.

Looks thrilled, no?

Well, maybe I'll walk in a little further...

{memorial day}

It's memorial day....a time to remember our loved ones that have passed on. It is also a special day to remember all of our veterans and active duty military members who have served our country so that we can be free.

Today I am wondering how my sister is doing. She joined the Navy to be an officer just yesterday! I am wondering if they are acknowledging Memorial Day in boot camp, I'm sure they are. When I was in boot camp, I was privileged enough to perform in the color guard for a local town. It was a very emotional day, and I felt so incredibly lucky and PROUD to be serving my country after all of the brave men and women who have given their lives for us.

Happy Memorial Day.

I am having laptop problems AGAIN! Can you believe it!? It is costing me $200 to get my laptop fixed this time. YIKES! Mind you, my laptop is dubbed the "stone tablets" around my house because it is so old, LOL! So you are probably wondering why I don't just go and get a new one? Well, I would except I need something fast and with a whole lotta memory, so that is not in the budget at this time. (is it ever?)

So! With that all said...

I am ecstatic to announce that Ava and myself have been selected by Josiekat's Trunk (link on right side) to be a model and photographer from their model search! Whoo Hoo! Emily and little midge have also been selected, and we will work together. I am beyond excited and am so looking forward to doing business with them. On Thursday it was the Midge's birthday. Happy 2nd Birthday Midge! Her mama is my dear friend Emily (her link can be found under my "People I Love"). We took the girls out to lunch and out for a photo shoot. The girls did excellent and I got some awesome shots. Enjoy!

Have I mentioned how much I love Baby Gap? I think right now I am loving it soooo much more than Gymboree. How can that be?

Ava did a little fashion show for her mama today. She did a great job. She's such an awesome little model, and is so stinkin' cute. Maybe I'm just biased though. ;)

Between having computer and internet problems, I'm ready to tear out my hair! Hopefully things are fixed now so that I can keep up!

Monday we went to Emily's house and Justin helped the guys work on Emily's new studio, whoo hoo! I'm so excited for her! We the girls (Alica, Emily and myself) all chatted on a blanket outside and watched our offspring (hehe) play together (which, by the way, they did so beautifully...no fights or meltdowns!) Emily and I had our cameras and snapped away. I played with her lenses and got super jealous, LOL! Here are a few that I snapped that day...

I have a new look and a new name! Chixie and Honey Artistic Imagery is my new name, thanks to my daughter Ava. Ava got two "chicks" from her grandma right before Easter. They are two little styrofoam chicks, covered with yellow fur, sitting in a little cage on a bed of grass. When Ava took the chicks up to the checkout lane, she told the woman at the cash register that their names were "Honey". Within a few hours, the names were changed to "Chixie and Honey".

I heard this story over the phone, while I was in the hospital with my 7 month old son, Britton. The story of Chixie and Honey brought such laughter to such a somber and worrisome time in my life...the names "Chixie and Honey" just evoke sweet, silly, innocent fun. It also reminds me of my own little "Chixie" (Ava) and "Honey" (Britton).

And that....my friends, is how Chixie and Honey Artistic Imagery was born.
